You Belong to Me – 74

Corey’s response was immediate, and the kiss would have gone on much longer if he hadn’t started to slide off the barstool. “Graceful, I’m not,” he said when Scott caught him.

“I bet you are when you dance.” Taking Corey’s hand, Scott led the way to the dance floor.

The music was fast at first, which was fine with Corey. After the kiss he was having thoughts he knew he shouldn’t—like saying the hell with it and suggesting they go back to his place, or Scott’s, whichever was nearer. If they’d been slow dancing, he might have given in to them.

“Finally,” Scott whispered, pulling Corey against his body when the music changed. “You’ve been dancing as if you were afraid to touch me.”

Corey gulped, saying under his breath, “I was. I am.”

“Don’t be. I’m not going to try to seduce you.” He grinned. “Don’t look so surprised. We already set up the parameters. Or you did, and I’ll honor them.”

“Thank you.” Corey wasn’t certain if he was relieved or disappointed. He was sure he wasn’t going to move away, however. Instead, he put his arms around Scott’s neck, happy for the moment being held by a man he thought he might be falling for. Might? Hell, I know I am. For all the good it will do. He looked up at Scott and frowned. They were very close—physically—but Scott’s attention seemed elsewhere. It took Corey a moment to realize Scott was scanning the men surrounding them, and he shivered, asking, “Do you think he’s here?”

Returning his complete attention to Corey, Scott shook his head. “Doubtful, since he knows I know what he looks like. But there’s always the slim chance he might have followed us anyway.”

That’s why you wanted to come here,” Corey said angrily, trying to pull away.

Scott obviously wasn’t having any of that because his hold on Corey tightened. Calmly, he replied, “Not at all. But I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t keep an eye open for him.” Without any hesitation, he brought their lips together, gently kissing Corey. “We’re here because I wanted to spend time with you without—” He smiled. “—having to look across a table filled with food to see you.”

“Thank you for saying that.”

“It’s the truth, Corey. I like being with you.”

Corey gazed at him and knew that, for the moment at least, Scott believed what he’d said.
