Safe Harbor – 45

Kurt dropped down next to Bobby, suddenly feeling inexplicably shy despite the fact he was the older and hopefully more mature of the two.

Sensing how he was feeling Bobby smiled. "I don’t bite and well…I know we both want this but…"

"I’m all right, honest. It’s just, okay this sounds either weird or bad and I don’t want it to but when it comes down to it you know a lot more about…this…" Kurt spread his hands, "than I do."

Bobby burst into laughter. "Damn, Kurt, if you tell me you’ve never gone beyond kissing and maybe groping…"

Kurt turned red. "I’m not that inexperienced but it has been a long time."

"Okay, so see here’s the thing, we have to take our clothes off to start with, sort of like at the shelter but this time we’re not going to go to sleep."

"No kidding." Kurt hesitated before starting to unbutton his shirt.

"It’s more fun if we undress each other," Bobby pointed out, pushing Kurt’s hands aside so he could finish what Kurt had begun. Then he pulled the shirt free from Kurt’s jeans and slid it off his shoulders. "I’ve been wanting to do this since forever," he murmured, dipping his head to lick each dark nipple.

Kurt hissed, the touch of Bobby’s tongue sending a bolt of desire straight to his already hard cock.

"I think you like that a little too much." Bobby’s hand was now pressed against Kurt’s erection. "In fact a lot too much. Don’t want you coming just yet." He straightened up, stripping off his tee.

"Hey now, that was supposed to be my job," Kurt protested.

"So I changed the rules. Now for your jeans."

"Yours first."

Kurt gave him a gentle shove and Bobby flopped down onto his back, laughing. His laughter stopped when Kurt pulled his zipper down, freeing his cock from its denim prison, and bent over it with the obvious intention of taking the head into his mouth. Bobby stopped him by dint of tangling his hand in his hair and tugging. When Kurt looked up in surprise Bobby said quietly, "Condom."

"We don’t…"

"We do." Digging into his pocket Bobby produced one, handing it to Kurt who quickly sheathed him before returning to what he had intended to do.

"It may have been a while…but damn, Kurt," Bobby moaned. "Guess you haven’t forgotten some things."

Kurt didn’t reply. He was having too much fun teasing and sucking. Just the sounds of Bobby’s moans sent his libido into high gear so when he suddenly found himself on his back, his jeans open and pulled down over his hips he didn’t protest. In point of fact he couldn’t have spoken if he wanted to because seconds later Bobby’s tongue was fucking his mouth in a ravaging kiss while his hand was closed around his rampant erection.

So close…I can’t…

As if he’d read Kurt’s thoughts, Bobby tightened his fingers around the base of Kurt’s cock, breaking the kiss to tell him, "Not yet, babe. Calm down."

Safe Harbor - 44

Kurt stepped off the fire escape onto the roof and muttered, "I cannot believe I’m doing this."

Bobby laughed as he dropped the two rolled up sleeping bags he was carrying and took Kurt’s hand, leading him to the edge so they could sit on the parapet. "Welcome to my world."

"Breathtaking," Kurt whispered in awe. The city was spread out before them, the sun’s last glow on the horizon limning the buildings in golds and reds, and flashing off darkened windows. Even as they watched, the sun disappeared. Lights on the streets below mapped the city with their brightness against the dark surrounding them.

"Awesome isn’t it?"

"Incredibly so. Why haven’t I ever seen this before?"

"Maybe because you live down there, not up here."

"Or perhaps because I never met someone who wanted to show me what I’ve been missing."

Bobby knew he could have made a risqué comment, probably would have in the past, but the last thing he wanted to do at the moment was break the mood which had developed between them. He wrapped his arms around Kurt’s waist, smiling when Kurt covered his hands with his own. They sat that way for many minutes just savoring their closeness before Kurt shivered.

"Cold?" Bobby asked.

"A bit but also…" Carefully Kurt turned so he could cup Bobby’s face in his hands. "I was thinking how nice it would be to kiss you."

"The whole world is watching."

Kurt smiled. "I doubt it, but if they are so what." He did kiss him, very gently at first. It deepened almost instantly when Bobby responded hungrily, and continued as they explored each others mouths, seeking to learn tastes and textures.

The kiss ended abruptly when Kurt leaned a bit too much to one side. Bobby stopped him from falling with a shouted "Damn!" as he dragged them both off the parapet onto the roof. "Are you trying to give me a heart attack?"

"No, but I think…" Kurt took deep panicked breaths as he stared at where they’d just been sitting.

"It’s okay, you’re okay." Bobby told him, maintaining his hold on him until his breathing returned to normal, "But no more edge sitting until you learn to pay attention."

Kurt tried a grin, almost succeeding. "I was paying attention…to what we were doing."

"Yeah, yeah." He felt Kurt shiver again and wrapped his arms tighter around him. "Okay, you are cold. I think it’s time to spread out the bags and get you warmed up."

Chuckling, Kurt asked, "Is there some sort of double entendre in that statement?"

"Damned straight there is." Bobby got up, holding out his hand. When Kurt took it he pulled him to his feet and into another kiss before going to where he dropped the sleeping bags. Soon he had one spread out and sat down, patting the spot beside him.

Safe Harbor - 43

"I wish I’d been there. I’d have beaten the bastards bloody," Bobby growled.

Kurt shook his head. "And ended up in jail yourself."

"Yeah, but it would have been worth it."

"Shush, oh bloodthirsty one, or I’ll send you to bed without your supper," Kurt joked softly.

"All alone?"

Biting back a laugh, Kurt nodded. "Yes." He was still joking but it seemed Bobby didn’t realize he was since he looked very upset as he turned away. Sighing, Kurt put a hand on his shoulder.

Bobby immediately shrugged it off, saying, "Are you having second thoughts?" Suddenly, apparent understanding, and then distress flashed across his face. "I know I’m not exactly prime boyfriend material, or whatever you want to call it."

"Don’t you ever put yourself down that way because it’s not true."

"Yeah it is. I’m homeless, I live on the streets and I sell myself to make money. Hardly up to your high moral standards."

"Excuse me? What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"You know exactly what it means, Father Kurt."

"Oh for heaven’s sake, how the hell did a rather bad joke about sending you to bed suddenly turn into…this?" Kurt put his hands on Bobby’s shoulders, his face serious as he locked eyes with the younger man. "I am not having second thoughts, far from it. As to how you’ve been living your life, you’ve done the best you could to keep body and soul together, I’m well aware of that. There is no way I’d fault you for how you’ve had to do it, so get that idea out of your head right now."

"I could have…"

"Could have what? Gone back home? Not an option. Gotten a job? Doubtful when you first got to the city because you were too young. Now, probably. I’ve already offered you one, well sort of, and if you don’t want it I’m sure there are places that would hire you. You wouldn’t get rich but you’d be able to earn enough to find a place to live." Kurt’s lips quirked up in a small smile. "One large enough to have a real bed."

Bobby smiled back, but his eyes said his heart wasn’t in it quite yet. "Did you really mean it that it doesn’t matter to you what I am?"

"What you are is someone who was treated so badly you’ve lost sight of the fact you’re a good, loving, caring person who deserves more from life than you’ve gotten so far." When it looked as if Bobby was going to question his words again, Kurt did the only thing he could think of to stop him. He took him in his arms and kissed him.

"Wow," Bobby whispered a few moments later, pulling away to stare at Kurt.

Kurt smiled, brushing the pad of his thumb over Bobby’s lips. "Do you still think I don’t want you?"

"Well…" Bobby’s eyes dropped down to Kurt’s crotch for an instant before he lifted them and grinned. "There is some evidence that says you definitely want me."

"I most certainly do. However…"

"What?" Bobby tensed again.

"We have a small problem."

"Not that small." Again Bobby’s eyes went to the obvious erection straining Kurt’s jeans.

"Stop that," Kurt growled. "What I meant was we don’t really have a place to…"

"Yeah, we do, if you’re willing."

"Do tell."

"Ever made love on a rooftop?"

Safe Harbor - 42

The news was playing on the TV when Kurt, Bobby and the girls arrived back at the shelter. It seemed as if everyone was in the community room, glued to the set as they listened to the reporter announce the arrest of two men allegedly responsible for the string of murders involving street kids.

Bobby cheered with everyone else, and then turned to say something to Kurt, at which point he realized he wasn’t standing there. He frowned and went searching for him, finding him pacing in his office as he talked to someone on the phone, which was set to speaker mode. Unashamedly, Bobby eavesdropped from the doorway.

"So they resisted arrest." Kurt was saying.

"They did, unsurprisingly all things considered." From the voice Bobby knew it was Daniel. "Forensics found their prints at the house where they had Bets. Once they ran them and had names, it wasn’t hard to track them down to the house they shared."

"I hope they aren’t cops. The news report didn’t say one way or the other."

"Yeah, we haven’t let that information out yet." Daniel paused, his voice taut with anger when he finally replied. "One of them was, and I mean ‘was’ in that he used to be a cop. He quit rather than face allegations of accepting bribes from a known drug dealer to look the other way. He also had a reputation for coming down hard on street kids, though of course none of the kids ever actually filed reports."

"Big surprise that," Bobby muttered.

Kurt heard him and turned to look at him, nodding before returning to his phone call. "What about the other man?"

"So far we don’t have much on him. He served a brief sentence for assaulting his ex-wife which is why his prints were on record. Turns out he’s also Master’s, the cop’s, brother-in-law. Master’s was married to his sister for a brief time."

Bobby pushed off the doorjamb, coming over to Kurt when he stopped pacing.  "Two losers hooking up to take their anger out on us."

"Unfortunately, yes, Bobby. Why, we don’t know yet but I’m sure it’ll come out in time." Daniel chuckled then. "I take it you’ve been listening in."

Kurt put his arm around Bobby’s shoulders. "He has been."

"If they resisted arrest did your guys at least get a few good licks in on them?"

"We don’t work that way, Bobby, despite what you may think. From the reports, they did try to escape and Masters pulled a gun, but he was taken down before he could use it."

"At least you caught them. I guess that’s what counts in the end."

"We did, Bobby, and you kids helped in your own ways. Okay, Kurt, I’ll call you again later if I have more details. Right now I have to get back to work."

"All right, and thanks for the update. I’m sorry a cop was involved, even if he isn’t one now. I guess it explains how they knew to act like police officers."

"It does, and I’m off." Daniel hung up and Kurt did the same seconds later.

Safe Harbor - 41

When most of the kids dispersed, Kurt figured they were going off to spread the news. "We should probably leave now, too." He dug in his pocket, frowning. "Where are my keys?"

Daniel eyed him and said with a bit of amusement, "Knowing you, you tossed them in your dresser drawer like you usually do."

"Whoa!" Bobby looked at Daniel, turned to Kurt, and asked tightly, "How does he know that?"

Daniel shook his head. "Something you forgot to tell him?"

"It never really came up."

Daniel put a hand on Bobby’s arm, tightening his grip when the young man tried to pull away. "Before you get the wrong idea, Bobby, Kurt and I are half-brothers. That’s how I knew what he does with his keys." He chuckled. "He was always loosing them so I finally got him into the habit of putting them in his dresser drawer, along with his wallet."

"You’re brothers?" Bobby looked between them in disbelief. "Nuh uh."

Kurt chuckled. "Uh huh. Same mother, different fathers. He’s a lot older than me."

"Two years is not ‘a lot’ older," Daniel grumbled.

"He always says that." Kurt laughed, patting Daniel affectionately on the shoulder. "Now we should get ready if we’re going to make it to the hospital while it’s still visiting hours." He put an arm around Bobby’s waist without thinking, dropping it quickly when he heard a soft gasp from behind them. He turned to see Jo-Jo and Cry still standing there.

"Told you." Jo-Jo grinned at Cry.

"Yeah, well… Okay, I owe you five."

"Excuse me, young ladies, you were betting on…us?"

Jo-Jo’s grin widened. "Yep."

"You breathe one word to anyone," Bobby growled.

Kurt’s arm went around his waist again. "I doubt by this time it’s any secret. After all, look at us, only half dressed and we came downstairs just a minute apart at best."

"Yeah, well, I mean if you don’t mind them knowing."

Kurt kissed his temple. "I have no problems with it. Do you?" He looked seriously at Bobby. "I don’t want to be responsible for ruining your reputation."

"You had better be kidding."

For a long moment Kurt remained serious and then he laughed. "I was."

"You are an ass."

"Sometimes." Kurt ignored the fact there were onlookers and kissed Bobby lightly. "And now we should go get dressed and head to the hospital."

As they walked to the stairs Bobby heard Cry whisper to Jo-Jo, ‘Think they done it yet?’ He glanced over his shoulder at them with a grin. "Not yet, but we’re going to real soon."
