Like Father, Like Son - 13

“Damn, Nicky, you should have been there.” Declan said Sunday evening with an exaggerated roll of his eyes. “She was a carbon copy of my mother.”

Nicky laughed, wrapping Declan in his arms. “My poor babe.”

Declan leaned back to look at him. “I’ll ‘poor babe’ you. I really, really hate Sundays any more.”

“I can see why. Tell you what, it’s early still so do you want to go to one of the clubs?”

“As long as it doesn’t have ‘country’ in the name, you bet. Let me go home and change into something comfortable while you decide which one and I’ll meet you there. I assume you get off at the usual time.”

“In half an hour, if you want to wait.”

Declan shook his head. “I really, really have to get out of this suit.”

“I understand.” Nicky pushed back the curtain on the small dressing room, waiting for Declan to step out into the shop. He chuckled when his lover stopped momentarily on his way out to finger a tie. “That one’s on sale at the moment,” he said, reverting to salesman mode.

“I’ll think about it.” Checking to be certain no one was watching he swatted Nicky’s ass, whispering, “A matched pair to tie you up with.” When Nicky gasped softly Declan grinned then left the shop.

An hour later he was heading toward the club Nicky had chosen. He wore jeans and a black turtleneck under a denim jacket. In the trunk of the car was his backpack, his knife stashed in it for the time being along with the rest of what he needed for later. Somehow he doubted they’d let him into the club with a blade sheathed at his waist.

When he got there he pulled into the club’s lot. He smiled when someone backed out of a parking space right next to the rear entrance and grabbed the spot before anyone else could.

As he strolled into the club, Declan called Nicky to see if he was there yet. Nicky said he would be in about ten minutes which worked for Declan. It would give him time to check out the girls and maybe find one who would fit his parameters. If not right now, he was sure with the whole evening ahead of him one would come in eventually.

One had better

After spending half the afternoon with his mother and her friends, trying to avoid her efforts to get him to ask the couple’s daughter out  on a date, he was tense, the all too familiar rage waiting to break free.

He saw three women almost immediately who fit the criteria; blonde, dressed in the height of club wear fashion, pointedly ignoring any man not similarly attired who tried to get them to dance.

“Bitches,” Declan muttered under his breath.

“Which ones?”

Declan spun around then smiled at Nicky. “You made it.”

“Well duh. It was my idea in the first place.”

Like Father, Like Son - 12

“Where did you disappear to last night,” Delores asked, anger filling her voice.

Declan debated hanging up on her. Instead, knowing the futility of doing so because she'd just call back, he replied, “I had an appointment.”

“At eleven on a Friday night? Declan do not lie to me. You went to see that slut.”

“Actually mother, I didn’t go to see him.” Semantics, but hopefully what he said would get her to back off.

“So you say. If you feel you have to be with someone couldn’t you at least make it a woman?”

Declan snorted softly. “Look at it this way mother, at least with a man I won’t end up getting them pregnant. No unwanted children will be created.”

“Declan Bryant Hill, how dare you. If you’re implying I didn’t want you…” She huffed angrily.

He remained silent on that subject, asking instead, “Did I actually miss anything important after I left?”

His mother sighed in frustration. “Of course you did. You missed out on meeting more people who could help advance your career.”

“Mother, my career is going just as I want it to.”

“I disagree. You’re lacking in ambition, Declan. If you put your mind to it you could be just like your father, well-known and well-to-do.”

Declan bit back a laugh. If his mother only knew exactly how much like his real father he really was she’d have an instant heart attack. For a brief second he actually wondered if telling her really would kill her, then thrust the thought aside. She was too cold and insensitive for something of that ilk to faze her. She’d undoubtedly try to figure a way to make it work to her advantage.

“If you’re quite finished with me, mother,” he said, hoping she’d take the hint.

“For the moment, however I expect you here for lunch tomorrow, on time if you would for once. The Quinlans are coming to join us.”

Oh hell, another attempt to mate me up with some inane debutant.

“I’ll be there with bells on,” he promised. He heard Nicky snicker in the background and turned to grin at him while saying to his mother, “I’ll see you then.” He hung up then beckoned for Nicky to come over.

Nicky shook his head as he joined him, saying, “Better thee than me, babe.”

“Hey, any time you want to trade parents I’m up for it.”

“Not even if Hell froze over. Now, can we get out of here and go get some food?”

“You bet. I’m starving.”

Like Father, Like Son - 11

They made it to Nicky’s apartment building in one piece. The second they were out of the car Nicky took Declan’s hand and they raced through the front entrance to the elevator. Nicky pressed the up button then impatiently muttered, “Hurry, hurry.” When it arrived and the doors opened he pulled Declan inside, punched the button for his floor then pressed his lover against the elevator wall, taking his mouth in a hot, hungry kiss.

Declan more than reciprocated, his hands grasping Nicky’s ass to pull his closer, their erections rubbing against each other thorough the thin fabrics of their slacks.

“About time,” Nicky growled when the elevator doors slid open.

The two young men beat it double time down to Nicky’s apartment. The second the door closed behind them they were tearing off each others’ clothes, kicking off shoes, not caring where they landed.

“Bedroom,” Nicky growled pleadingly.

“Not yet.” Declan dropped to his knees, taking Nicky’s rigid cock into his mouth at the same time he pushed a finger into his tight hole.

Nicky gasped, whimpering with need, tangling his fingers in Declan’s hair. “More, please.”

Declan chuckled, taking Nicky deeper into his mouth, sucking for moment longer before releasing him. He stood, pointing to the bedroom. “In there, now, on your hands and knees.”

Nicky instantly dropped down on all fours, crawling into the bedroom.

“Good boy. You may get up on the bed now.”

Like a dog, Nicky clambered up. He remained poised as he had been, on hands and knees, turning his head to look at Declan.

“Did I tell you to look at me,” Declan said sharply, landing two hard slaps to Nicky’s ass.

“No,” Nicky whimpered, dropping his head.

“Do it again and I’ll blindfold you.”

“I’ll behave,” Nicky whined.

“I know you will.” Declan patted his head. “You’re such a good boy. You even know what to do now, I’m sure.”

Nicky did. Pressing his face into the pillow he reached back, holding out one hand. He heard Declan open the bottom drawer of the dresser and moments later he put a well-lubed anal plug into Nicky’s hand. Nicky knew by the feel which one it was and whimpered again.

“Do it,” Declan ordered as he settled between Nicky’s legs. He watched avidly as his lover pushed the tip into his hole. “Too slow,” he growled when Nicky paused. “All the way…Now!”

Nicky complied, tears dampening the pillow as the thick plug stretched him painfully. But he didn’t cry out. Declan didn’t allow that. He had to keep silent no matter how much it hurt. If not, punishment would be swift. He liked pain, needed pain, but not the kind Declan dealt out when real punishment was called for.

“That’s my sweet boy,” Declan murmured. He bent, placing gentle kisses up the length of Nicky’s back to the nape of his neck. “So obedient,” he whispered. He teased Nicky’s nipples with light touches of one fingertip. When they were tight buds he pinched one and then the other sharply between his fingernails. “Very good boy,” he told him when Nicky remained silent despite the new pain.

Sitting back on his heels, Declan smiled. Then with one swift tug he removed the plug. He heard a stifled groan from his lover and slapped his ass twice, hard and fast. Nicky stayed silent although his whole body tensed. Gently, Declan stroked the red handprints to ease the hurt he’d dealt out.

“Do you want me to fuck you now?”

“Please,” Nicky begged.

Declan took a condom from the bedside table drawer, sheathed his thick cock then liberally coated it with lube. Ready now, he pushed the bulbous head against Nicky’s opening and with one swift thrust he filled the hot, tight channel with his erection. He knew it had taken every ounce of willpower for Nicky not to cry out. He earned his reward.

Taking Nicky’s throbbing cock in his hand, Declan stroked and pumped it as he rode his lover. He knew the instant the pain of his thrusts turned to pleasure for Nicky by his low moans. He increased his speed, with his cock and his hand, until they both reached the edge and then soared over it into ecstasy.

“So good,” Declan whispered several long minutes later when he rolled off of Nicky, taking him in his arms.

“With you it always is.” Now that it was no longer required he be the obedient and silent lover, Nicky cupped Declan’s face in his hands. “I missed you,” he told him before kissing him deeply.

Declan returned the kiss, saying against his lips, “I missed you more.”

Nicky pulled back, laughing. “Nope. Not possible.”

“Possible.” Declan traced a finger over Nicky’s soft lips. “I just wish I had more time to be with you.” He sat up, easing Nicky up to rest against his chest.

“Someday, if you don’t tire of me first.”

Declan smiled, kissing his temple. “I’ll never tire of you.” And he knew for that moment at least he meant what he was saying.

Like Father, Like Son - 10

I hate tuxes.

That thought ran through Declan’s head several times as he dressed for the event at the country club. He checked his watch once he’d finished and realized he was actually ahead of schedule. Still, when his phone buzzed he was certain it would be his mother asking where he was.

He was pleasantly surprised when a male voice said, “Hey babe, thought I’d see if you were free tonight.”

“God Nicky, I wish I was. I have to go to a function at the club with my parents.” He groaned dramatically, getting a laugh in reply from his on again off again lover of the last two years.

“How about I ride to your rescue? Say around eleven?”

“You do that and I’ll love you forever.”

Nicky chuckled. “Promises, promises. All right, eleven it is.”

Declan smiled, feeling almost cheerful now. “I’ll be waiting with bells on.”

“Bad joke, but only bells?”

“Just on the jester’s hat.”

“Come on, seriously? Is it a costume bash?”

“No, silly boy. That’s just what I feel like around mother sometimes. Ah well,” Declan checked the time again. “I’ll see you at eleven.”

“You got it, babe.”

Declan hung up, took one more look in the mirror to be certain he’d pass inspection, then left his apartment.

* * * *

“How bad is it?” Nicky asked, coming up beside Declan where he stood watching the people enjoying the party.

Declan smiled at him as he replied, “No worse than I expected, and no better. The usual fund raising BS. I suppose I should let mother know I’m leaving.”

“Live dangerously and lets just split. She looks quite involved with the people she’s talking to. No sense in disturbing her.” Nicky’s eyes gleamed wickedly as he said that.

“I… Yeah, you’re right, let’s get out of here.”

Declan turned towards the exit from the club’s ballroom, praying his mother wasn’t aware he was leaving. For once luck was with him, he and Nicky made it out to the parking lot with no one who mattered being aware.

As Nicky drove his car out onto the street he asked, “Where to?”

“Your place.” Declan ran his hand slowly up Nicky’s thigh, stopping just short of his crotch. He grinned when Nicky took one hand off the steering wheel to move it the rest of the way to his hardening cock. “Someone’s a bit eager,” Declan murmured as he palmed Nicky through his slacks.

“Someone’s horny as hell and knows just the person to take care of the problem.”

“Pull over and we’ll see if I can do something about it right now.” Declan caught Nicky’s eyes in the rearview mirror and licked his lips.

“You, hush. I want to wait until we’re home where we can do it right.” Nicky groaned when Declan squeezed his cock. “Please babe, how can I drive when you’re doing that?”

“Carefully,” Declan shot back, but he relented and took his hand away although he left it lying in Nicky’s thigh.

Like Father, Like Son - 9

By the time Declan graduated from the University he had all the information he could gather about his father and his father’s family. He’d visited his grandfather once, but had found it a worthless trip. Gerard’s Alzheimer’s had progressed to the point where trying to get a logical thought from him was impossible. The best he could do was convince the administrator at the rest home to agree to let him know if anything changed, although they both knew that was totally unlikely.

He’d also checked out the address on his grandfather’s driver’s license. It belonged to a huge home, practically a mansion in Declan’s opinion. The land it stood on was surrounded by tall, decorative shrubbery behind an equally tall fence. The only entrance was through a padlocked and chained gate which barred the long driveway. On the gate was a realtor’s sign. It looked as if it had been there for quite a long time.

He put off calling the realty company until well into his senior year. He was quite certain there was nothing in the house at this point in time which would tell him anything about his father.

But still he was curious to see where his father had grown up, so early one Saturday morning he decided to get in touch with the realtor.

When he called the realty company they told him the house had been on the market since the time the owner had become incapable of taking care of himself. The title was now in the hands of the owner’s lawyers but, so far, no one had been interested enough in the property to pay the asking price. Using the name of one of the grad students he was acquainted with at the university he was able to convince the realtor his ‘father’ wanted him to take a look at the house before deciding to make the long trip to the city to do so himself.

The woman had believed him and that afternoon had met him at the front gate. She unlocked the padlock before suggesting they walk up the long driveway so he could get a feel for the size of the grounds surrounding the house. He’d agreed it was an excellent idea.

When they got inside he was suitably, and vocally, impressed. The place was huge, indeed more of a mansion than a house. While she showed him around the ground floor he asked questions. She answered them tersely as if she resented having to deal with a college student she was obviously quite certain was just being nosy, despite who his ‘father’ was.

He began to feel the familiar rage engulf him, exacerbated by the fact she was a blonde, bleached but none the less a blonde, and close to his mother’s age.

“Is the basement furnished?” he asked, his face a picture of innocent interest.

“You’re welcome to go see for yourself,” she told him, leading him to the stairs. “I’ll wait here for you.”

Oh I think not.

He left the mansion two hours later a great deal wiser about exactly what the ‘game’ his father and uncle had played involved.

When the realtor has suggested he explore the basement on his own he’d simply grabbed her, choking her into unconsciousness, and carried her down the stairs. He set her limp body on a dusty sofa in what he presumed had once been a recreation room of some sort and then went exploring for a safe place to play his own game. He’d expected to find a furnace room or storage area which would work. Instead he’d discovered a locked door. He broke it open and walked into a small room, empty except for a workbench with dust-covered tools lying on it. Above him, in the ceiling, were several large hooks. He knew instantly what they’d been used for; the hooks and the tools.

So he’d availed himself of them. The realtor had screamed until the moment she’d finally died, her blood dripping onto a large tarp he’d found stored under the workbench. He wondered it his father and uncle had used it for the same purpose.

When he finished he cut her body down, wrapped the tarp around it, and dragged it to an empty chest freezer which stood behind discarded furniture in another room in the basement.

As he drove away he speculated how long it would take before her body was found.

It turned out she apparently had neglected to tell anyone else at her office exactly where she was going, only that she was showing a house. It was a large company, they handled a great many houses, and so it had taken three weeks to discover her body.

Declan had followed the story with the same interest as the rest of his friends. They debated what might have happened and then who could have killed her. The grad student whose name Declan had used became a person of interest until he was able to prove beyond a doubt he had been with several other students studying for a mid-term exam at the approximate time of her death.

By the time finals rolled around the furor over the murder had died down. Graduation followed a week later and then Declan packed up and returned home to New Mexico.
